Lillehammer Super Sprint

Today we did a Nordic Combined Super Sprint race in Lillehammer. There were 31 heats of 2 skiers each skiing up a 200m climb for the prologue. From the 62 starters it was cut to 16, 8, 4, and 2. Team USA had 3 guys in the top 16, Todd Lodwick, Billy Demong, and Alex Glueck. In the round of 16 Billy and Alex lost their head to head sprints and were eliminated. Todd rolled through the rounds of 16 and 8. In the semi final he faced the three time defending champion, Magnus Moan. Todd didn't have the best start but was able to beat Magnus and get a spot in the finals. In the final he beat Haavard Klementsen. It was a tight race until about 25m when Todd separated himself from Haavard. From that point Todd was clearly going to win and coasted into the finish for the victory. It was a really exciting competition with the 200m street in Lillehammer jammed with people watching the race.

Tomorrow we will have another jumping competition. The first jump to determine the NC winner from today based on the prologue times and the second jump to set up another 10km rollerski race.

I will post results when I get them.

No Excuses.
