Miller Leads USA Charge
Rovaneimi, FINLAND - March 13, 2009
Alex Miller (Steamboat Springs - SSWSC) was the top finisher in the first of three Continental Cup events in the Northern most city in Finland. Rovaneimi sits just a few miles south of the Arctic Circle and is playing host to the final events in the FIS Nordic Combined Continental Cup season. Miller cracked a 90.5 meter jump to finish the jump portion in 6th. Racing to the 17th fastest x-c time, Alex managed his 3rd top 10 finish of the season finishing 10th. Younger twin brother, Davis, also turned in a great jump in the windy late afternoon competition landing in 8th. Davis, who has been steadily improving his x-c performance, managed an overall 24th with the 34th best cross-country time. Skyler Keate (Salt Lake City * Park City Nordic Ski Club) flew into a respectable 19th place finish in the jumping event and moved steadily back in the cross-country 10km following a week of illness which kept him out of last weekend's races in Hoydalsmo, Norway. Willy Graves (Putney, VT * Lake Placid Ski Club) struggled on the jump today following some of his best jumps all season in yesterday's official training and opted out of the 10km race.
