A' Miller Best on the Arctic Circle
Alex Miller (Steamboat Springs, CO) was the top American on day 2 in Rovaneimi, Finland in the second to last event of the 2008-09 season. Miller didn't lay down his best jump but fought hard to move from 19th after the ski jumping portion to cross the line 11th for his 5th top 15 of the year. Finishing a mere :32 seconds behind German winner, Matthias Mentz, Miller will go for his first podium in tomorrow's finale event. Willy Graves (Putney, VT.), who sat out yesterday's event after some trouble on the jump, pulled everything together to score a solid result in 18th. Davis Miller scored more Continental Cup (COC) points as he continued to step up to the plate and fight for the points that potentially earn additional starting spots for US athletes in future COC competitions edging out a charging trio of Fins at the line to record a 24th place. Skyler Keate (Park City Nordic Ski Club) lead the US squad following the jump ½ but could only manage to hang onto a top 40 finish as he continues to recover from a virus that kept him sidelined last week in Norway. Both World Cup and Continental Cup seasons wrap up tomorrow. Way to go Billy!
